Proposed a Pre-Monsoon Action Plan for Ahmedabad Slum Communities

Proposed a Pre-Monsoon Action Plan for Ahmedabad Slum Communities

Last year, flash floods in Gujarat killed over 260 people, and 10,000 people in Ahmedabad lost their homes. To minimize this damage from rain water in drainage and sewer systems, MHT has proposed a Pre Monsoon Action Plan. The plan builds awareness in slum communities in Ahmedabad on flooding/water logging, mosquito control, rain water drainage, sewer cleaning, identification of unsafe buildings, and emergency helpline details. It will be implemented with the support of the City Health Department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Vikasini Manch of Ahmedabad.  In coordination with the plan’s objective, North Zone Deputy Officer D.M. Makvana from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation led a lecture at a Vikasini meeting on June 2nd that covered vector control and standards for hygienic healthy homes.
