Owing to the resettlement of slum dwellers in Delhi to JJ colonies without access to basic infrastructure and health facilities, MHT initiated various activities in the colonies. MHT envisaged providing microfinance services to the most needy households so they can access basic infrastructural services such as water and toilets. It was expected that with access to such amenities, the health and life quality indicators would increase. However, before the initiation of the work, it was important to understand the socio-economic status of the people and also their issues. This is a baseline study which aims to understand the current status and the array of challenges faced by the selected community living in the JJ Clusters of Sawda-Ghevra.
